Have you read “Help To Stop Smoking – Getting Motivated To Quit… Again” part 1 and part 2 ? If so your reaction now is :

“OK, I get the picture. Now What?” On with the Motivation!”

Motivation is not easy to come by when there is resistance. We smokers are notorious for resisting change like giving up our addiction, as are all drug dependent people. (It’s now recognized that nicotine is addictive and smokers are considered to be drug dependent. So some of us have to work hard at becoming motivated and breaking free from the bondage. Here’s a method I’ve tried that got me going in the right direction

1. Make a commitment to visit smoking cessation related sites for ten minutes every day. Not much, just a committed minimum of ten minutes. If you use an agenda, note that task in there and mark it as a priority. Don’t put it off like you put off quitting for so long.

2. Go to a search engine and type in something related to “stop smoking“, for instance.

3. Click on a few sites and start reading. Become informed. There is a lot of stuff out there and you can’t help but learn things.

4. Something somewhere will click. In the meantime, you will have armed yourself with knowledge and will have reduced your risk of failure the next time you decide to stop. Whenever you arrive at a decision to stop smoking, make sure it’s after careful preparation. Your chances of long-term success will certainly be much greater.

5. Keep the motivation list as page two in Your Plan To Quit.

I hope this has helped.
